Questions
Questions, answered plainly
When can I order?
We open for orders in November. Join the waitlist and we'll email you the day orders open, along with the holiday order-by dates.
How long does a portrait take?
Your digital preview usually arrives within a few days of your order. After you approve it, a Canvas Print ships in about a week. A Petite Oil or Hand-Painted Oil takes about 3–4 weeks, because each one is painted by hand and needs time to dry.
These are typical times, not promises. If you have a date in mind, tell us when you order and we'll be honest about whether we can make it.
When should I order for Christmas?
Order a Petite Oil or Hand-Painted Oil by about November 10–15, and a Canvas Print by about December 12–15. These dates are approximate; we'll confirm exact order-by dates when we open.
Will I see my portrait before it's made?
Yes, always. We send you a digital preview of your portrait first, and nothing is printed or painted until you approve it.
How is my preview made?
Your digital preview is prepared with an AI editing tool that only changes the background — your cat is never altered — and the final portrait is painted by hand (or printed, for Canvas Print). Choose “Paint my photo exactly as it is” for no digital editing.
What if the preview doesn't look like my cat?
Tell us what's off, whether it's the eye color, a marking or the crop, and we'll fix it. One round of changes is included free.
If it still isn't right, you can cancel for a full refund at any time before you approve the preview.
Is the Canvas Print painted?
No. The Canvas Print is your approved preview printed on canvas by our partner print studio in the United States. It's the quickest and most affordable option. If you'd like a real painting, choose the Petite Oil or the Hand-Painted Oil, which are painted by hand in oil.
Who paints the oil portraits?
Professional portrait artists at our partner oil-painting studio in Xiamen, China. They work from both your approved preview and your original photo, so your cat's real colors, markings and eyes come through. We check a photo of every finished painting before it ships.
What kind of photo works best?
A clear, daylight photo with your cat's face visible and eyes in focus. Our photo guide has six quick tips. Only have older or imperfect photos? Send them anyway, and we'll tell you honestly what we can do before you commit to anything.
Read the photo guideCan I include more than one cat?
Yes. Add each extra cat to the same portrait. Send one clear photo of each cat; they don't need to be in the same picture.
Does it come framed?
The Canvas Print arrives gallery-wrapped and ready to hang. Oil portraits arrive rolled and carefully protected, ready for you to frame or stretch.
Where do you ship?
Within the United States only, for now. You'll see the shipping cost before you pay, and we'll send tracking once your portrait is on its way.
Do you make memorial portraits?
Yes, with care. You can add your cat's name, their years and a short line to any portrait, and we'll show you the exact wording in your preview before anything is made.
About memorial portraitsWhat happens to my photos?
We use them only to make your portrait. We never sell them, and we'll never share your cat's photo or portrait publicly without asking you first.
